The Banks Design Receives Approval
Cincinnati, OH (August 13, 2009) The latest design for Phase One of The Banks received approval from Cincinnati’s Urban Design Review Board this morning. Members of the Carter-Dawson development team and architects from CR Architecture+ Design and Moody-Nolan presented updated renderings of the apartments and retail components to the board, receiving positive reactions.
The UDRB, a citizen advisory board charged with reviewing the architectural plans for city projects, endorsed the design, under the condition that the development team provide additional information on construction materials and color scheme in the near future.
Banks project architects added more contemporary elements to the design, such as increasing the amount of glass and number of balconies. They also worked to address the board’s concerns about the development’s northeast corner of Second and Main Street, where pedestrians enter and exit Great American Ball Park.
Next steps are to proceed on the structural designs and to continue discussions with the UDRB on materials and color schemes.
The Banks is a joint City, County, Carter, Dawson project. Once completed, The Banks will be Cincinnati’s largest single, mixed-use development and be composed of a dynamic blend of residential, office, hotel and retail components. Phase 1A of the riverfront development is under construction and will include a revised street grid, parking facility, a minimum of 300 apartments and 70,000 square feet of retail.
