Banks Private Developers Launch Inclusion Efforts
Carter-Dawson to Hold General Information Session
Cincinnati, OH (July 24, 2009) – The Master Development Team of Carter and The Dawson Company will hold the first of several outreach sessions for the private development of The Banks next Tuesday at the Community Action Agency.
The event aims to encourage the participation of small, disadvantaged, minority- and women-owned business enterprises, and minority and female workers. In addition, the session will provide general information regarding the private development phase of The Banks and encourage both DBE and SBE certification.
"Diverse experiences and perspectives make for the strongest project and product," said Carter Vice Chairman Trent Germano. "Carter and Dawson operate inclusively, and The Banks will be no exception."
The private developers share the same SBE inclusion goals as the City of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, set at 30 percent for construction. Despite no specific MBE goals, the Carter-Dawson team expects to work with minority- and women-owned businesses as both companies have in previous projects.
"We value the benefits that come with making inclusion a priority in our developments," said Tamara Kimble, vice president of strategic marketing & external affairs at The Dawson Company. "We’ve made a commitment to the City and the County and will work to deliver said opportunities to the community."
The development team has enlisted Ellington Management Services, an inclusion consultant firm, to assist with the inclusion efforts. Ellington Management Services will host information sessions for The Banks private development as each phase of the development occurs.
Next Tuesday’s session marks the first outreach meeting. During the free event, participants will have the opportunity to hold one-on-one discussions with members of the Carter-Dawson project team and other project personnel. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Individuals and businesses interested in attending should contact Ellington Management Services at marilyn@ellingtonmanagement.com.
