Mayor Mallory & Commissioner Portune Tour The Banks
Cincinnati, OH (May 15, 2009) Mayor Mark Mallory and Commissioner Todd Portune toured The Banks construction site this afternoon. Bailey Pope of The Dawson Company, John Deatrick, project executive for the City and County, and Tom Bell of Messer Construction led the Mayor and Commissioner through the working construction site. The project team briefed the Mayor and Commissioner on the progress of the project as well as plans for the overbuild, which will begin construction this summer.
Both elected officials went through a safety briefing and donned the appropriate gear – sturdy boots, hardhat, vest and safety glasses – before entering the site. The project team guided Mayor Mallory and Commissioner Portune along the access road through Block 16 and into Block 26, where the parking garage construction is well underway.
The Banks is a joint City, County, Carter, Dawson project. Once completed, The Banks will be Cincinnati’s largest single, mixed-use development and be composed of a dynamic blend of residential, office, hotel and retail components. Phase 1A of the riverfront development is under construction and will include a revised street grid, parking facility, a minimum of 300 apartments and 70,000 square feet of retail.
